WHAT DOES THE NAME “MOOSE MUNCH” MEAN?

Moose munch popcorn is a fantastic harry & David moose munch creation that combines butter toffee caramel popcorn with almonds and chocolate. Moose Nibble was named after the Pacific Northwest, where Harry & David live, since the duo decided to make a snack so delicious that “even the moose would want to munch on it!”

DELIGHTFUL

Everything about this is delightful: it’s fluffy, buttery, sugary, and utterly engrossing. A very tasty snack that everyone in the family can enjoy, ideal for a night in front of the TV. This rendition, straight from your kitchen, is even tastier than the original. If you don’t eat it all right once, store it in an airtight jar and it will stay fresh for about a week.

DARK FRIDAY

This fantastic popcorn snack dish was discovered during my quarterly Freaky Friday event. When asked to define Freaky Friday, what would they say? For those of you who don’t know, today is the day when a group of my food blogging friends and I will all share the recipes that we’ve secretly chosen to make from the blogs of someone else.

FOOD BLOG

The Culinary Compass, Sam’s delectable food blog, is my summertime assignment this year. Sam has a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering with a minor in food science.

The inspiration for her food blog came from her need to learn about cuisines throughout the world. Because even if we can’t visit everywhere we’d want, we can at least try new foods from throughout the world. Brilliant!

THE CULINARY COMPASS RECIPES

As soon as I was given Sam’s blog, I dove in. The recipes I wanted to share with you were the ones I had circled on a long list.

Baked Chicken Caprese with Garlic Butter, Fruit Pizza with Peach Salsa and Maryland Crab Dip, and Garlic Butter Mussels round out the menu. It was so difficult to choose just one recipe that I ended up printing them all out in anticipation of making them in the future.

In the end, I opted to go the easy path with her harry & David moose munch recipe, switching up the peanuts for almonds and cashews.

RECIPE FOR MOOSE SNACKS

Although it may seem strange to provide a recipe for the ideal handmade Christmas snack in the middle of summer, I promise you that they are delicious whenever you want them to be! Take it to a barbecue, a tailgate, a potluck, or any other gathering! Our new standard snack will be this chocolate caramel popcorn blend.

MOOSE FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY

I was so impressed by how simple this dish was that I cooked it up on the Fourth of July at the lake home for all of my family and friends. One other thing that drew me to this dish? Moose is my brand new grand puppy!

Moose in the beginning of June near the lake. He is a 5-month-old Golden Retriever that is very lovable. Unfortunately, harry & David moose munch wasn’t able to partake in the popcorn, but his parents did.

CARAMEL-CHOCOLATE POPCORN INGREDIENTS

This dish employs basic, on-hand items. This recipe’s main ingredient is popcorn, thus it only makes sense that it be cooked in a microwave. Ensure that any unpopped kernels are thrown out. You may either use buttered microwave popcorn or pop your own kernels in butter oil.

SALTED CASHWES NUTS

The saltiness of the cashews and almonds complements the sweetness of the chocolate and adds a satisfying crunch to the popcorn. Traditional recipes for this harry & David moose munch call for both dark and milk chocolate, but we like to use semisweet chocolate chips instead.

I opted with semi-sweet chocolate chips. Please feel free to utilize one or both of the chocolates. They are going to be melted and then poured over the caramel popcorn and nuts.

HERE ARE THE INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED TO CREATE CARAMEL:

Brown Sugar: The butter and brown sugar give the harry & David moose munch a lovely buttery caramel taste. Popcorn that doesn’t turn out gritty thanks to light corn syrup. Real butter, especially salted butter, is a must for every bowl of popcorn.

Salted butter is great for this dish since it intensifies the other tastes and brings out their finest notes. When you add baking soda to melted butter and brown sugar, it creates a fizzy reaction. You get caramel popcorn with a creamier texture.
